HELITRON Project Awarded FISA 2024 Funding
GAUSS is pleased announce that the HELITRON Project, proposed in partnership with the School of Aerospace Engineering – Sapienza University of Rome and ENEA, has been selected as one of the WINNERS of the Italian Fund for Applied Science 2024 (FISA).
The HELITRON project aims to study and develop a new high-power electrodeless plasma thruster for space applications. The thruster will be designed to combine the strengths of helicon plasma sources with those of electrodeless Lorentz force thrusters, enabling efficient plasma generation and acceleration without the use of electrodes.
The research project will span five years, during which the team will carry out theoretical, numerical, and experimental activities to advance electric propulsion technologies. By addressing key challenges related to performance, efficiency, and operational lifetime, HELITRON will contribute to the development of next-generation propulsion systems for future space missions.
With the FISA 2024 funding secured, the project team is ready to start its research activities and move forward with this ambitious scientific and technological endeavor.

GAUSS srl is proud to announce that its CEO, Prof. Filippo Graziani, has been awarded the Luigi Broglio Prize during the official ceremony held on 16 December 2025 at the Chamber of Deputies, Sala della Regina.
The award was presented by Teodoro Valente, President of the Italian Space Agency (ASI), in recognition of Prof. Graziani's long-standing leadership of the School of Aerospace Engineering, his outstanding contribution to the education of generations of aerospace engineers, and his pioneering role as the first Italian professor to launch student-built satellites with his university research group.
